Despite the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, the course maintenance team did an exceptional job, leaving Winthrop in pristine condition. The media coverage was extensive, and the on-site experience for spectators was the best it has ever been. Team Innova’s Ohn Scoggins and Eveliina Salonen both secured spots on the Throw Pink podium, taking 2nd and 3rd place respectively. More Than Just a Tournament

The United States Disc Golf Championship and Throw Pink Women’s Disc Golf Championship are not just tournaments, but full-fledged events. The 2024 Championship Week featured a variety of activities such as clinics, demonstrations, signings, giveaways, spectator courses, food trucks, craft beer carts, and disc vendors from various manufacturers. One highlight was Eveliina Salonen’s signing of her pre-release Signature Swirled Star Destroyers, exclusively available at the USDGC Pro Shop. The Fresh and Now concert series kept the festivities going into the night, with popular live bands performing in the Village each evening. It was a true celebration of the sport of disc golf.

Ohn Scoggins continued her impressive performance, making the Throw Pink lead card every day of the competition. She ranked 2nd in the field for Strokes Gained Tee to Green and shot an impressive -6 in the final round, securing 2nd place overall. Ohn has achieved almost every accolade a disc golfer can, and while Throw Pink is not yet considered a Major, it certainly has that level of prestige. With four other FPO Major podium finishes in the past three years, Ohn is undoubtedly one of the most deserving players in the field yet to win a Major.

Eveliina Salonen, known as the best thrower on tour, dominated the leaderboard for most of the first three rounds of Throw Pink. Despite a challenging hole 18 on day three, she still put together a strong final round, particularly on the putting green where she went a perfect 11/11 from C1x. She ultimately finished in 3rd place, leading the field in Strokes Gained Tee to Green and C1 Hits. Her performance was a testament to her exceptional skills and solidified her spot as one of the top players in the sport.
