Väinö Mäkelä on 2024 Krokhol Open Podium at his 2nd Event on Innova

Innova’s European players are on fire! We are always thrilled to see our athletes on the podium, but we are especially excited about the recent success of our Innova players. Last weekend, our newest team member, Väinö Mäkelä, took 3rd place at the 2024 Krokhol Open, just weeks after joining Team Champion. In the FPO division, rookie Anneli Tõugjas-Männiste also had a fantastic performance, earning her first DGPT podium finish in just her fourth Tour event.

Väinö’s success at the Krokhol Open was impressive, especially considering it was only his second DGPT tournament playing with Innova discs. He tied his best Tour result and had an average event rating of 1058, the third highest of his career. He played consistently and showed off his well-rounded disc golf skills, keeping his shots in bounds and capitalizing on birdie opportunities with his putts. Väinö was also one of only two players in the field to take just one OB stroke all weekend, and he didn’t miss a single putt from inside the circle in his last two rounds. This strong performance is a testament to Väinö’s talent and the quality of Innova’s discs.

Anneli’s podium finish is a major accomplishment in her rookie season on Tour. She has played four DGPT events in Europe and has finished in the top 10 at three of them. Anneli’s success can be attributed to her smart play and ability to keep her OB strokes to a minimum. She also excelled in Fairway Hits, C1 and C2 Hits in Regulation, and C1x Putting, proving that she is a well-rounded player. Anneli consistently shot well above her player rating, averaging 36 points above her rating for the tournament.

We are excited to see what the future holds for both Väinö and Anneli. Väinö has a history of strong play at the European Open, and we have no doubt he will continue to perform well at this important event. As for Anneli, she is quickly making a name for herself on the Tour and we can’t wait to see her continue to rise in the rankings. Congratulations to both of these talented athletes on their impressive performances!
