April Jewels returns with a new twist!

If you’ve been following us for a while, you’re probably familiar with our annual April Jewels campaign. For disc collectors, this campaign holds a special significance. Allow us to explain. April Jewels is a clever play on words with April Fools, and it’s our way of bringing back some classic Signature Series stamp designs for one last hurrah. We carefully select discs from our current lineup and combine them with old designs to create a new take on these beloved classics. This year, instead of featuring three old designs, we’re offering three brand new ones. Two of these designs pay homage to our senior staff members and former top disc athletes who are no longer as active in the competitive scene. The Retired Thunder is a modern twist on Dana Vicich’s popular Roaming Thunder Signature Series releases, which were originally featured on Swirly S-line CD2 discs. Fun fact: The CD2 discs from the past are nearly identical to the CD1 discs we have now. We changed the name to reserve the CD2 moniker for a different type of disc in the future. The World Champ also makes a comeback, but this time on two wheels. While still competing in disc golf, Avery Jenkins, the 2009 world champ and a world-traveling disc golf ambassador, had a two-part Signature Series set called the Dark Maul. Our April Jewels version of this series is called Dark Mall, where the fierce bear from the original design has transformed into a more laid-back mall cop version of himself, cruising around on a Segway scooter. And last but not least, we have a parody version of our current Signature Series item, the Cosmic Fury. This series is tied to our rising star, Kyle Klein, but instead of a burst of intergalactic rage, the April Jewels version serves up a bowl of Cosmic Curry. While the stamp designs may be different from previous April Jewels campaigns, the format remains the same. You choose the stamp design and the disc, and we’ll create the final product for you. The disc options may vary slightly depending on whether you’re shopping at our US or European store, and select US Discmania retailers may also have these options available at a later date. One of the most exciting aspects of April Jewels discs is their limited availability. These discs are only offered for a short time, making certain disc/stamp combinations highly sought after by collectors. As with previous years, we plan to retire the April Jewels 2024 stamps after the campaign and release a collector’s guide once everything has settled. This ensures that each disc is unique and doesn’t replace any technical terms.
