Brian “Schwebby” Schweberger has solidified his place in professional disc golf history as the first athlete to achieve 400 PDGA Pro wins. While many top players have defining moments or seasons in their careers, Schwebby’s success spans over two decades of consistent excellence. Playing in a tournament almost every weekend for 25 years, he has won nearly half of them and podiumed at 75% of the events he entered. His success is not defined by one standout shot or moment, but rather a collection of consistently high-quality performances. As Schwebby himself puts it, “I’ve gotten to where I’m at by staying consistent.”
Since his first PDGA event in 1998 and first Pro win in 1999, Brian has been a dominant force in the sport. By 2002, he was already playing a tournament almost every weekend, and in 2006, he had his first breakout season with 14 MPO wins, including multiple A-tiers. Since then, he has had at least ten Pro wins in every season, and in 2023, after 25 years at the top, he had his most successful season yet with a record-breaking 41 Pro titles.
While Schwebby’s most significant 1st place finish came at the 2013 Tim Selinske US Masters Championship in his home state of North Carolina, where he beat out disc golf legends Ken Climo, Barry Schultz, and Jay Reading, he considers his most proud achievement to be the 2002 Bob West Sportsmanship Award. This award is given annually to a PDGA member who exemplifies sportsmanship on the course, follows the rules, and handles wins and losses with grace. To be recognized by his peers as a role model means more to Schwebby than any win.
Known as the king of North Carolina disc golf, Schwebby’s accuracy and mastery of the woods have earned him over half of his wins in his home state. He is also known for his exceptional thumber shots and has been a member of Team Innova since 2002. He has remained loyal to Innova throughout his career, using KC Aviars, DX Sharks, Star Leopards, and Star Firebirds to achieve his success. His dedication and commitment to Innova are unmatched, making him a valuable member of the team.
